The Demise of The Backlink

Warning: A lot of people may not agree with the ideas on this post regarding back-linking but here goes…

There was a time when Meta tags were considered essential in optimizing your blog or website. As you know, that’s gone a long time ago.

Most site owners included Meta tags with the same targeted keywords, like ‘fish food, great fish food, best fish food’ as well as infinite slogans telling the same keyword phrase. Loading a lot of Meta tags with keywords guaranteed that your site or blog will rank well. Then Google made changes and Meta tags are no longer useful as a component of SEO.

The same thing happened with reciprocal linking, such as linking to a site and that site linking back to you. Doing this means you both get a backlink therefore many people did this. The thing is Google does not place a lot of importance on reciprocal linking anymore.

In the past two to three years, people were so involved in building backlinks through anchor text, creating as many links as one possibly can and modifying the anchor text in order to get ranked. It is unfortunate that optimization technique was not only overused but abused.

A lot of blog and website owners took advantage of using ‘spammy’ SEO services that promise to build thousands of backlinks for a very cheap price. The main issue is that the backlinks normally come from ‘spammy’ or undesirable sites.

This led to the Panda and Penguin Google algorithm changes which were intended to take off spammy backlinks as a result over optimized sites were affected. Many website and blog owners are now complaining due to their site rankings falling. They have felt that their sites are being penalized for having a lot of backlinks. Actually, they’re not. What happened was they got penalized for having too many “spammy” backlinks.

It doesn’t stop there as there will be more Google algorithm changes that will take place over the next few months and the main focus is removing spammy backlinks. By 2013, backlinks won’t be too important in the algorithm that determines the position of your website in search engines.

The emphasis now shifts to the quality of your content. Yes, it is still about the content. People go online to look for solutions to their problems. They don’t care about theory. What they want is an action that can help them. People want to be told what to do exactly to fix their problems. Again, theory is nothing but trash to them.

Have you ever asked yourself: how many blog posts out there are about theories? You’d probably say, most of them. Now, how will Google determine great content? Do people stay long enough on your site? Do they view all of your webpages? How many people link to your content from their site? Are there people who would share your content on popular social sites such as FB, Google+ and Twitter?

These factors will be important so it pays to think about this as your backlinking method. Never overemphasize backlinks. If you do some things such as commenting or guest posting just to get a backlink, you might as well stop. Remember, to set up social site profiles because you want to share other people’s work.

Here are things that you can do:

1.     Social Profiles
Create accounts at the following:

These social sites allow you to add links to your site. Just don’t forget that these are intended for sharing other people’s work on these sites

2.     Commenting
Anyone can comment on blog posts but it is important you add to the conversation. There will be people who will read your comment and get an opinion of you. You are not writing just to get a backlink. If you do, think of it as a bonus.

After your comment is approved, add the blog post to your social sites like Google+, Twitter, etc.

3.     Guest Posting
The quality of your content is even more important when you do guest posting. If the content is not relevant at all they’ll just end up in the email trash.

4.     Your Own Content
Make content in the best way possible. It should be so good that people will want to share it as well as link to it. Don’t ever do anything with the purpose of just building backlinks. Focus on creating content and help people to solve their concerns.

Understanding SEO Copywriting

The truth is helping a client’s page achieve top rankings isn’t quite as simple as writing great content and then sitting back to watch the page climb SEO rankings. On the contrary, SEO is a an ever changing art. In addition to SEO being a complicated concept that would be impossible for us to talk about in a  completely in a single article, but if you start slowly, you should be able to master the basics in no time at all. Below you will find some basic truths that can help you (and your clients) understand why SEO is not nearly as straightforward as you might think.

1. It’s not just about keywords.

You should be aware that keyword stuffing is bad for SEO, but it bears repeating. Many people remember “the good old days” of SEO where improving a site’s rankings was supposedly as simple as repeating your target keywords enough times to convince the search engines of yesteryear that your page was relevant to the search terms. As a copywriter, it’s possible that some of your clients will pressure or even order you to use those outdated methods.

These days, though, if you use such tactics, you’ll often find that your page has terrible rankings or has even been filtered out as spam. Keywords are still important, but there’s a right way and a wrong way to employ them. The right way involves finding a balance between a believable number of carefully chosen keywords and informative content. The wrong way is keyword stuffing.

2. Linking properly is more important than most people realize.

Linking, as the very basis for the web itself, is vitally important to improving a page’s rankings. Not only will linking to other people’s pages boost their rankings, but it will help to improve your own rankings as well. Links help to build your site’s legitimacy in the eyes of search engines, but it’s important to link correctly.

For example, the pages you’re linking to need to be relevant both in terms of content and in terms of the keywords you highlight for the hyperlink. Trying to drive traffic to a friend’s blog entry on cars, for example, by hyperlinking the words “apple pie recipe” will not only annoy your readers, but it could also cost you some legitimacy in terms of SEO.

Other tips for linking include the following:
Don’t do it too often. If you include too many links, your readers (and the search engines) will think you’re spamming them.
Don’t just link to another site’s homepage. Linking to interior pages (specific blog entries or product pages, for example) can help with SEO while directing readers to the specific article you may be discussing.

Vary your anchor text. Sometimes linking using rich keywords that directly correspond to the destination page (e.g. “Saratoga Race Track”) will work best; other times, a simple “Click here” will flow more naturally. Don’t always feel obligated to link using keywords as your anchor text.

Don’t go crazy with internal links. Yes, sometimes it can be helpful to link to some of your other posts, but it’s much more effective to link to both internal posts and external websites whenever relevant.

The number one rule of linking is that it should be helpful to your readers in some way. If your readers won’t benefit from a link, it’s probably not going to help strengthen your website.

3. It takes time, even for sites with great content.

One of the worst parts about trying to improve a site’s rankings is realizing just how much time it takes. Unfortunately, no matter how great the content is, it almost always takes time for a site to become strong.

For these reasons, most SEO-focused copywriters or SEO firms tend to work with clients on a long term contract basis, providing constant updates and a consistent stream of content.

The Fastest Way to Create Links to Your Website

For people who don’t know why links are important, let’s just say that if you want to get traffic from the major search engines, they’re crucial. Links from other sites to your site are basically a ‘vote’ that tell search engines you are trusted and you are a good resource for whatever your content is about.

Believe it or not, a big portion of affiliate income is due to traffic via Google, and the difference between ranking second and ranking first can literally be thousands of dollars extra on your profit.

Your Website Should be Useful
Let’s take Wikipedia for example. People find Wikipedia full of helpful information. This is why people naturally want to go to Wikipedia. The point is search engines follow people. When people talk about you, the links will follow.

Submit Articles Based on Your Subject of Expertise
You can submit articles to a variety of websites including Ezine and Squidoo. At the bottom of your article, add a resource box that describes you and links back to your website.

Utilize Guest Posting
Find opportunities to guest blog about your area of expertise or your business. Search for keywords like “Submit Post,” “Write for Us” or “Become a Contributor” to find sites on which you may be able to submit a guest blog. Also, look for relevant blogs within your niche and pitch an idea for a guest post.

Video Syndication
Submit videos related to your product or service. Choose popular sites like YouTube as well as sites that are unique to your industry. Link the videos back to your website or to relevant articles.

URL Submission
Submit your URL to link-building directories. Choose a generic directory like DMOZ or a directory that is unique to your industry. Follow submission instructions carefully for a better chance of acceptance.

Social Bookmarking
Engage in social bookmarking. For example, link to your blog and post the link on Reddit, Digg or StumbleUpon.

What You Need to Know About the Fundamentals of SEO

For sure, you have heared about SEO or search engine optimization. People say you need to optimize your website if you want traffic for your site. Yes, that is true. The thing is how do you do it?

Let’s start with the basics. In order to optimize your website, you need to ask yourself 3 questions:

1. How are people searching for my products and/or services?

2. Which sites are winning for those searches, and why?

3. Which searches can I win?

After you’ve identified a number of search phrases that are potentially winnable, you are ready to create a search engine optimization plan for your website.

Take a closer look at your website and find out whether you have significant content already developed that correlates closely with the keyword phrases you have identified. At a minimum, you need one page of well-written and useful content for each keyword family you have chosen. Each page should be entirely focused on exactly one keyword family. An excellent example is a page from an encyclopedia. For competitive keyword phrases, you will likely need to devote entire sections of your site to winning just one phrase.

Here is Your Search Engine Optimization Plan

A complete guide to search engine optimization would be book-length, and would be out of date as soon as it was published, but here are several tips for building a website with search engine optimization in mind:

1. Each page on your website must have a unique HTML title tag, meta keywords tag, and meta description tag.

2. Check out and follow W3C recommendations for HTML document structure. Begin the body copy of your page with your keyword phrase, and repeat it as needed as the theme of the page throughout your copy. Feature your keyword phrase prominently by including it in headers and making it bold or italics.

3. Use text navigation on your site, and use the keyword phrases you have selected as the links. If you cannot use text navigation, include a footer on every page using text links.

4. Build a text site map, and link to it from every page of your site.

5. Organize your navigation according to the importance of your keyword phrases. If you break your site into many pages, link to the most important pages from every page of your site, and link to the other pages from section header pages and the site map.

6. Establish your site by submitting to the major directories, The Open Directory and the Yahoo! Directory, then build your link popularity by submitting to web directories, search engines, and requesting links from related websites.

7. You need to be patient. A search engine optimization project can take quite some time to work.

SEO Techniques That Matter Most

You really have to realize that SEO techniques should be done properly. Although it is very popular, internet marketing is a very delicate business and a single mistake can have huge effects on your business or reputation. By utilizing these techniques in a correct manner, you can realize the full potential of your business. We shall discuss some of the top SEO tips and tricks that you can adopt for your online business.

Do Not Underestimate The Importance Of Keywords

One should spend enough time in finding out the most relevant keywords for your website. There are various SEO tools that are designed to identify the keywords that web users normally use to search for a particular thing. Such keywords should be carefully optimized to your website giving importance to its placement.

There’s Nothing Like A Good Content

No matter how much effort you invest in creating a good traffic to your website, if the content displayed on the page is not catchy enough, people will leave the page as quickly as they logged in. You should have a clear idea about the type of people that would visit your website and write your content accordingly. It goes without saying that the content should specifically deal with the product or service being offered on your website. Many website creators find it difficult to write unique contents. Such people can always use the assistance of professional content writers. No top SEO tips and tricks will be effective if your site’s content is poor.

Choosing Your Title Tag Carefully

You need to have a basic understanding of the way search engines work. When a search engine looks for web pages related to the entered keyword, the first thing it searches is the title tag. Additionally, a user decides the relevance of a particular webpage by going through the heading tag. If they find that it is something not related to their keyword, they would never bother clicking on the link.

Build Backlinks

This will definitely feature among the top SEO tips and tricks. It is easy for people to identify the importance of a website by observing the number of backlinks it generates. It is often viewed as a token of its legitimacy.

How To Build a Better Website

You build a vehicle with awesome features. You paint it red but your customer wants it green. You try to sell the red vehicle but come across resistance. You call the customer stupid and go on trying to promote your red auto.

We all do this. We decide that’s what we need to promote. The customer on the other hand would like something else that fulfills their needs. We never stop to ask. Ever!

Every section of your website should have the ability to handle feedback that can then be incorporated within your website and other communication to give the customers what they need.

Feedback also allows you to stay ahead of your competition big time! Once the customers trust you and see changes in the website, they will be encouraged to give more important feedback that could change not just the website but even the working of the organization. Perception is everything, and you need to know at all times what the outside world perceives your organization to be. Once you have that data, it allows you to go ahead and make the changes you need.

Is Your Website Sitting In A Box?
How are you going to promote your website? While most websites rely on getting to the top of the search engines, you may not have that need. You may have a very specific targeted audience you want to reach. That audience would never search for your website online. They would have to know it, or never find it at all.

Companies print brochures and then make sure they go out. They build websites and it sits in the box undistributed. They hope, and this is a big hope, that someone will visit. It doesn’t happen. You have to figure out the distribution process as well, so that your website goes out to your target audience.

If It’s Worth Building, It’s Worth Improving
Most organizations make changes to their business to keep competitive. Yet, they think nothing of keeping the website stagnant for 50+ years. (Ok, I’m exaggerating, but on the web 1 year= 10 normal years)

Expect change to be inevitable. The website should be constructed so that it’s easily changeable and updateable. It should also not require a degree in rocket science. You should be able to update it while you’re sitting at a cyber cafe in the Bahamas while sipping your Caribbean Punch!

Understand that it’s inevitable and, like all marketing tools, this tool should be reviewed at least every 6-12 months and changed or reconstructed to meet current customer demands.

What Good Websites Really Do
1)It gives information, and builds credibility.
2)It builds the brand and allows you to earn off the brand.
3)It builds customer loyalty.
4)It allows customers to use it as a suggestion box. It’s not a perfect world and customers should be encouraged to let you know what can be fixed.
5)It should achieve basic marketing principles. It should be solving a problem and aimed at a specific target audience.
6)It should generate its own income like any profit centre. It should justify its reason for existing.

How To Create The Most Perfect Website
Think of  these factors as important benchmarks for creating a website. If your website doesn’t do these things, you have to question, why not?

1)Revenue Generation
2)Data Collection
3)Information Source
4)Feedback and Complaints
7)Fan Club
8)Associated Tools
9)Meet the Basics of Communication

Websites Aren’t For The Organization. They Are For The Customer
Websites are a marketing tool. Use the principles of marketing to build and promote them. That of course, means having a target audience. Having a problem you can solve. Flag off that problem and then provide a solution.

Yahoo might be the wonder of yesterday but is the one that gets the most converts. Yahoo is trying to be everything to everyone, Google isn’t. Don’t get lost in the hype of technology because everything on this planet is based on psychology and emotion.

Most websites have no objectives at all. They have no target audience. They are created because it’s fashionable to do so.

Forget the fashion. Learn and understand the basics of internet marketing and communication. If you don’t understand the basics, get someone who can! Otherwise you’re doing what a zillion websites across the world do – Nothing!

Do You Really Know How Important SEO Writing Is?

Do you know how important it is to write SEO articles and web content when you have an online business? Actually, you cannot do without it. Without optimizing your website and providing quality content, your online business is dead. Writing SEO articles is definitely your best shot in capturing the attention of your potential clients and in convincing these people that you’re somebody who knows your chosen niche inside out. It’s also one of the most effective ways in pulling up your page ranking.

What are the Important Elements of SEO Writing?
1. Keyword research. Always start the process by researching for the best keywords to target in your articles. Doing this is relatively easy with the use of keyword suggestion tools particularly those that are offered by Google. List down those keywords or key phrases that are very popular among your target audience and those that are closely related to the products and services that you sell. However, keep in mind that the more competitive a keyword is, the more difficult it is for you to get your articles to appear on the top 10 search page results.

2. Learn How to Select Your Topics. It is important to be very creative when choosing your topics. You need to think about your readers when doing this and you need to make sure that they will love the things that you’re going to discuss. As much as possible, I would recommend that you relate your chosen keywords to the problems or goals of your target audience. It will also help if you offer tips list or how-to guides that will help these people in solving problems or doing tasks.

3.Know Your Number One Priority – Your readers
It is not recommended to write and optimize your articles all at the same time. To make the process as simple as possible, write for your readers first. What you can do is anticipate all the learning needs of those people who’ll read your articles. Do your best to ensure that you’ll be able to provide them with the exact information that they’re looking for. These people must consider your articles as something useful and something that is worth their while. Make your articles easy to understand and engaging. This is to make sure that your audience will read your articles until the end.

4. Optimize your articles. Once you finish writing your articles, the next step is to make them search engine-friendly. In able to do that, you must know the algorithms of search engines. These engines will index your articles and you have better chances of getting higher ranking if your articles contain just enough keywords and if you place them on certain locations where search spiders can easily see them. The best places for your keywords would be on your title, first and last paragraphs (preferably within the first 90 characters), and on your article body. It will also help if you use words that are closely related to your chosen keywords or keyphrases.

Awesome Link Building Methods You Should Know

Ethical! Ethical! Fine! Ethical! Ok, here’s the thing about linking… Getting other links from other people is necessary for SEO and getting the search engines to send traffic, but how do you do it without actually making the search engines run away? Read futher to find out how.

1. Great Content Only

People keep saying this, great content rules. Write content that people want to read, which is the same stuff that people actually want to link to and people will read it and link to it. I mean it’s really what it gets back to other blogger’s will naturally link to it. They don’t just say, “ I wrote this link it to me. Alright really great stuff.” People will be like, “oh look someones writing really great stuff lets link to them.” I mean it really does work that way. Keep it fresh and publish consistently though.

2. Be Consistent

Consistency. That’s a big thing, ok? You gotta, you can’t just post once every three months, ok? Build relationships, ok? That just never goes away in business. Network, network, network. Ok. Reach out to other bloggers, other web site owners, even PR and news. OK, use contact, emails, forums, twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and if you have to…get on the phone, ok? There are still people that like to get on the phone these days. You know, comment on other people’s stuff. Be useful, ok? Don’t just blah, blah, spam everybody but provide useful feedback, useful comments, engaging.

3. Write Guest Posts

Absolutely! And another one and this is a good one, write guest posts, blogs always need more content; online magazines always need more fresh content. So what do you do, you solve their problem. Offer to write fresh content for them and they’ll publish it and you should get the link back, you should get the link back, plus you’ll get exposure to their audience. Great one way.

4. Submit Your Articles To Directories

Directory links are a great way to help spread the word about your website or blog in a good way. The more directories that your site can be found on, the more that search engines will trust your site.

The best way to submit your site to a directory is to try and use a niche directory submission. Niche directories are those which are created with one specific topic in mind. Niche directories will only accept sites that they say are related to that particular niche, which is why Google places a lot more importance on backlinks that come from any sort of relevant site or sites anyways, so this will help you a lot when it comes to search engine rankings.

5. Use Social Media

Social media are all the rage these days and they are unstoppable. Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, YouTube, even MySpace… the list goes on and on. You can build some really important links just by having a placement on each of these social media sites.

Social media is great since they offer numerous ways to have people promote your content FOR you. People can retweet, “like”, “share”, “+1” and just plain old copy and paste a link to your website right on their social media accounts if they find the link that you have put on your very own social media site at all valuable or useful. If you have a blog, then you should try to have it on the very same domain as your company’s website. Social media is all about keeping it real and keeping it human, so having a blog, which is far more human than just a website advertising products, is a must-have.

How to Make Social Media Work for Your Business?

Twitter…Facebook…Linkedin…they’re everywhere. The funny thing is a lot of people think that these social media sites are only for “keeping in touch” with friends, family and co-workers. If you are stuck in this frame of mind then you are not really taking full advantage of these social sites.

Here’s what you can do with social media sites. You can advertise, promote or even market products and services to as many networks as you can handle. Although Facebook is used by many people, you should also “diversify” your social media marketing to include other social media networks such as  Twitter, LinkedIn, and others. You have a better chance at success the more visible you make yourself.

Try and hold a contest or prize giveaway to entice people to come to your site. To enter, try telling them to follow your page on Twitter, like you on Facebook, or just subscribe to updates on your other sites. Regardless of the prize, you will be capturing your followers’ attention, which helps to improve your visibility.

Ask others to assist you on your social media campaigns if you need it. This market is large and many designers and consultants can create a website and social media strategy that works for you. They can be expensive though, so you may have to spend a considerable amount of money if you choose this path.

If you post photos on social media sites that are relevant to your business, make sure to post more than only your business logo. Adding pictures of your workers and events will bring a face to your business.
There is a way to invite people to “like” your blog on Facebook, by putting a dedicated box for people to click on. This button makes it easy for readers to “like” your content on Facebook. This will allow visitors to “like” the post and they do not have to leave the blog. By making this easy for people, they are more likely to actually do it.

Be an active member of social communities and post often. Social media is all about interacting, being social and visible. Always make sure that you are focusing on your niche to highlight your strengths. This strategy can also lead to good networking benefits.

Basic Principles You Shouldn’t Ignore When Doing SEO

Wow! Probably, everyone has heard of SEO. It is so easy to conclude that there must be numerous SEO masters around. Well, that’s what you think. The problem is some so-called “SEO Master” may even ignore the most fundamental rules of doing successful SEO.

What are those principles? Read below to know more about them.

1. Being consistent in the practice of SEO.
A relentless pracie of methods as well as strategies are needed by search engines to boost your site’s rankings. SERPs are always searching, indexing, and ranking new content, so it’s only natural to give new and great content which will attract them. You cannot rest if you wish to be successful.

2. Using well-researched keywords and phrases.
Single words are useless to the search engines. In fact, they can be so general that they don’t mean anything at all to search engines. Phrases are the key to finding an audience. Think of how you do your own searches and you will understand this. Be as specific as possible when using keywords. If you need help, pay for a keyword research project.

3. Emphasize keywords and phrases in your content.
Include bold, underline, and italics features in your text, this will highlight your keyword phrases for the search engines to make it easier to find them. Do this once each with three uses of the keyword phrase within your text.

4. Create great content.
Since the sharing of information on the internet began as nothing but text, content is king. Google especially loves a good blog, but all search engines are biased toward text – and they always will be. Keep your content fresh and lively and they will find you more easily.

5. Think about your target audience, your readers and the search engines.
You have to realize that you are actually making content for a dual audience. One is alive while the other is a machine. One will read and share your content because it resonates with them, the other will share it because it matches an unknown formula, or algorithm. Do you research, here and elsewhere, and learn to write for both audiences; your visitors and the search engines.

Make it easier for search engines to find you by following the principles mentioned above. Simple as they may appear they can really help improve the visibility of your website in search engines.

Can You Write a Quality Article in Less than 30 Minutes?

Ok. Content is king. You already know that. Now, can you come up with a great content in less than 30 minutes? You’d probably say, it depends. If you’re having a creative block, it would take you more than a day to write something that makes sense. Let’s say you just want to write something useful and you are not experiencing any creative block. Sometimes, it can still take you an hour or more to write anything at all.

Now, what should you do to create an article fast? Here are some things you need to remember to make a great content.

1. List down your ideas.

Whenever you come up with great ideas, don’t forget to jot it down. Do you know that it can take a long time to find a topic to write about? So if you have your list, then you can always get back to it when you need to write.

2. Expand your ideas.

Forcing suporting details for your topic can be tough at times. To work around this here’s what you need to do. Once again you need your list. On that list, you have to let your great ideas sit for a few days then you can include more ideas as they occur to you in the next few days. This is how you get the supporting details you require when writing your content.

3. Set aside unnecessary ideas before you start writing

On your list, you might have included some ideas that do not fit the original article you plan to write. Don’t remove them from your notes, just set them aside. You can still use those ideas on future articles that you will be writing.

4. Using numbered or bullet points

To make it easier for you write an article, organize by using numbered or bullet points. These would make transition of one idea to another a lot easier. A fast transition of ideas to come up with an article that has a lot of sense.

5. Articles should be short

Apparently, the longer an article is the longer it takes to finish it. Since you want to complete an article in less than 30 minutes, you need to be sure that your article is only about 500 words or less. Now, there’s one thing that must not be compromised even if you are writing a short article and this is the idea that you want to convey to your readers. An article must be coherent regardless of its length.

SEO Pitfalls That You Should Avoid

Almost everyone has heard of SEO. Yes, we utilize SEO to make people come to our website and buy our services or products. The only thing is there’s a right and wrong way to do SEO. If you really want people to believe in you, you have got to do SEO the right way therefore here are the things that we need to avoid when optimizing our sites.

What to avoid in SEO:

Being satisfied with just driving people to your website. It’s good if a lot of people go to your site but having a lot of visitors doesn’t mean all of them will buy your product or get your services. Your website should give people a reason to make them want to buy.

Not giving people a reason to stay.

If people go to your website then this means you must be doing something right however, it is also easy for them to leave your site in a heart beat. If this happens then there’s something wrong. Both actions will have cost you money. So think about what you would like me to do when I arrive and then make it easy for me to do it.

Making an Ad Copy too SEO friendly

An ad copy must be created with thought. Don’t just come up with one and make it overly SEO search friendly that the main idea is loss. An ad copy must always make sense with your visitors as always content is extremely important

Hiring an expert without checking his background.

Beware! There are just too many people who claim they are experts when it comes to SEO. They’ll have you spending a lot of money without delivering the results you expect. It pays to check out references, work experiences and background. Remember, you want someone who can help you gain more profit from your online business.

Is SEO Worth Paying For? Or Should You Just Do It Yourself?

Many people rely so much in SEO optimization and this lead to a high demand in optimization. Numerous SEO companies are advertising their services, enticing prospective clients that they can provide top rankings within search engines. The thing is once you understand search engine optimization methods, you’re on your way to obtaining high rankings free of charge. The main advantage of using SEO is it’s a fantastic way to market your products or services on the net. Yes, you can pay someone or a company to give you great rankings in Google but why not learn SEO yourself and benefit from it for free?

When paying for SEO Optimization is the only option you can think of

Getting the services of an SEO company is actually a choice that you can make however, if you endeavor or put an effort to learn how to rank high in search engines then you don’t need anyone’s services to be visible online.

Instead of one website ranking, you have the opportunity to get top rankings with multiple sites under multiple keywords. It is proposed to provide entrepreneurs with a long-term marketing solution, campaign against the company paying you, and once the campaign is done, so your site. Or, if you want to continue the campaign you have to pay high fees to maintain the rating. When it is a free way to drive traffic, not high maintenance fee to maintain the flow.

Do It Yourself SEO

If you really want to build an online presence, the best person to do SEO is YOU. Many businesses do not consider this as the best solution because it can take a lot of time as well as testing to complete optimization. It’s true that there are a lot of e-books or online content that claim to tell you how to rank well in search engines but finding  a teacher or a mentor to instruct or help you with SEO can give you better results.

Sometimes, learning how to do SEO is not possible simply because you might not have the time or you’re not just interested in learning how it’s done. In this case, then you would have no choice but to look for a reputable SEO company who can deliver results and meet your expectations.

SEO has been proven to be a great method to advertize and market your services and products online. As always, SEO must be included in your business strategies.  This is a sure-fire way to let your website be found. Remember, if people can’t find your website, your online business will not survive long-term.

SEO Topics That Are Bothersome

Having exceptional content is not enough with Search Engine Optimization, you are required to do On-Page optimization, Off-Page optimization and so on. It’s simply that there are some things about SEO that can be bothersome.

Search Engine Optimization Guru

A “Guru” is supposed to be a spiritual guide. This suggests an “Expert” who is an instructor with exceptional knowledge, wisdom and also authority in a certain area who uses it to instruct or direct others as well as not be too concerned with profits.

On the Advayataraka Upanishad 14– 18, verse 5, the syllable “gu” suggests shadows, the syllable “ru” indicates he who enlightens, so guru’s should enlighten the ordinary human being from the darkness of ignorance. Currently, this does not seem like the SEO gurus that we understand.

SEO professionals are “search engineers”?

Individuals believe SEO’s included being “search engineers”. Unless your job includes developing search engines, at this point you are not a “search engineer”.

Faulty Link structure

Advising individuals the best method is to send junk mail in forums and social media for links, buying hyperlinks and so on is not benefiting the online community to be a better place. True Search Engine Optimization has nothing to do with hyperlink building which a lot of web sites offer. To believe that linking is SEO is not right.

Unless PageRank has been worked out or there is something extremely appealing in the toolbar PageRank that is worth discussing: PageRank is actually uninteresting. “SEO” is actually an overused word right now, I will consider most good experts as “online company strategists”. As an alternative, they concentrate their energy on building reliable and also valuable content on the internet. They left the world of selling rankings and what-not quite some time ago.  The sites they make are usable, accessible, they look good, the products are sold thoughtfully. The sites are easily crawled by search engines and follow search engine guidelines. The result is a nice site that does well for its owner and its customers.

Skyrocket Your Career As an SEO Copywriter

It doesn’t matter if it’s about writing a novel, writing a famous person’s autobiography as long as we become a writer. We now understand that life is not a bed of roses. Numerous wannabe writers have become disappointed or have chosen a different career, thinking that writing is not for them.

With the onset of modern internet technology, writing has branched out to article or content writing, copywriting, blogging and even SEO copywriting. I would say content writing is the easiest type of writing since information about on the net but copywriting is a different thing more so with SEO copywriting.

The point of this article is to understand why so many people fail as an SEO copywriter. I want you to read further and contemplate so you know what causes this failure.

Insufficient Search Engine Understanding

You need to understand how the search engines work. If you intend to write a real search engine optimized copy, it follows that you need to know not only your target market, but also the search engines themselves. While this may sound daunting or technical, it really is neither. Learning to write for search engines is easier than you might think. (Spoiler alert: this will be the subject of another video post).

Last year has been described as “epic” for SEO, in no small part due to the three major changes in Google’s search engine algorithms: first its May Day Update, followed by Caffeine, then Google Instant. Part of understanding how the search engines work is to keep abreast of new developments in search engine “behavior” such as these, so you are on top of the game– and there are scads of online resources for doing so.

Inadequate Understanding of Buyer Psychology

Do you know what makes people “tick”? This is where the art of SEO copywriting comes into play, seriously. Understanding the psychology of your market is absolutely fundamental to conversions– hence all the discussion of CRO, or conversions rate optimization. Great SEO copywriting may lead your prospects to your site but it won’t compel them to buy– unless you know and address their needs, desires, fears, and pain points. In short, you need to “get” their psyche.

There are awesome things you can do to change copywriting from good to powerful conversions! These will be more on understanding buyer psychology, and resources you can tap.

Is There a Connection Between Direct Response and SEO?

Usually, direct response landing pages and SEO do not go together.  Search engines look for content rich web pages.  Those content with at least 400 words or more for each page then 2-3% usage of the keyword or keyword phrases, backlinks and so on.

This is fundamentally the opposite of a direct response page which is often graphic rich and selling not telling pages.

So what direct response marketers do is concentrate on creating web pages for media buys.  The intention is to identify that sweet spot on high traffic websites.  In this manner, one could actually turn  traffic on with just a click and pull in thousands of sales a day.   Just remember that with just  one click the traffic can be turned off.

Here’s another thing, one online business decided to pause a media buy however they kept getting orders.  These were not a few orders here and there trickling in.  They started getting around 70-80 leads a day.

What happened was Google ranked their direct response page.  They used a few commercial intent keywords on their page but these were all in the metatags.  The front end of the site was multiple spliced images.

In January Google promised to make a major change in it’s algorithm.  Indeed, Google followed through its promise – with a change so big that it affected 12% of domestic searches.

Google is now paying more attention to the experience of users on a site.  Are users responding to the call to action and purchasing?  How exactly are readers reacting to the page?

While the above factors have always played a role in SEO, other factors such as backlinks have a lot more importance.   Over the course of this year we will witness search technology that begins to interpret the users experience on our websites at a whole new level.

This is a wonderful change that directly impacts direct response marketers in a good way.  When you decide to invest in high volume traffic your pages may start to get ranked organically.

The Top 5 Elements of SEO Copywriting

If you want to rank well in search engines, optimization and great content are the primary consideration. Let us say you are making a blog and would like to know what to do to make your blog more visible online, so read further to find out which elements to focus on when creating a blog.

1. Title

First of all, before making any title you should know what your target keywords are. These keywords that you would like to target are important because you need to include them in your title. If you can put your keyword phrase at the beginning of your title that would be a lot better. In case that’s not possible, there no need to worry because the point here is to have keywords show up on any part of your title.

Another reason why it is important to have those keywords in your title from the standpoint of search engines is when people search for something, they’re going to want to see whatever they entered on the search engine bar reflected back at them in the results. People are also more likely to link to you when your keywords are in the title because they’re linking to you with keywords on the anchor text.

Lastly, the length of your title should be no more than 72 characters to improve the chances of having the whole title show up in a search result.

2. Meta Description

What is a Meta Description? A Meta Description of your content is the description that shows below a title on a search result. If you can come up with a great Meta Description,  the better your chances that you get that click from searchers.

Having your keywords in a Meta Description may not really improve your websites’ rank on Google but this assures the searchers that your content is what they’re looking for.

3. Content

Many people say content is king and if you can provide fresh new content often then that would really make search engines happy. Usually, there is a certain length for content to rank better. If content is too short or less than 300 words then it would be harder to rank. Certainly, your keywords have to be included in the content but the frequency of the keywords is another thing to think about.

4. Keyword Frequency

Keyword frequency is the number of times keywords appear on a page while keyword density is the ratio of those keywords to the rest of the words on the page. It’s true that keyword frequency affects ranking however, it is important to know that having a keyword density of more than 5.5% could lead to keyword stuffing and even being penalized by Google. Carelessly repeating keywords in your content to optimize could lead to negative results. So avoid over repetition of keywords in your content.

5. Page Links

The foundation of the web is linking. All search engines want to be sure that your content is adequately ”connected” with other content or web pages so linking matters whenever search engine optimization is concerned.

Check out these best practices for linking:

a.            Link to relevant content early in the body copy

b.            Link to relevant pages every 120 words of content

c              Link to relevant interior pages of your website or other sites

d.            Link with naturally relevant anchor text

All of the above guidelines revolve around the current best practices. What matters most is to concentrate on the intention behind what search engines are looking for which is quality search results for people.

How to SEO Your Site. Google Ranking Secret Revealed!

Google has improved  their system over the years.  While some people complained, overall it’s more fair now when I got to #1 positions, because I did a fare and honest business.

Year 2000:

#1  Incoming links. It was introduced in  2000. The more links your site had the higher you came up on Google. Spammers lived great.

Year 2003:

#2 The Content. The person that had the most amount of content became the king of the mountain. Spammers learnt how to generate crappy content quick.

Year 2010:

#3 Activity. Your site had to have a lot  of  human activity to rank higher on search engines. This is where spammers started losing ground. 🙂 YES! That’s about when I started rising with a few of my sites.

Year 2011-2012:

#4 Quality Content.  Now it’s all about the quality and original content. Most spammers dropped out.

Create incoming links, write great original quality content, bring people and create activity.

Try not to copy content from other websites – ensure your content is original – use a site such as Copyscape or Copygator.  You can check if your content is original and that no one else copying your stuff.

Create relevant and needed content for real people like you and me. The search engines should come last.

Hope this helps.

5 High Converting Google Adwords Tips I’ve learnt from Ryan Deiss

Today I want to talk about ranking high on Google Adwords. This is what most people overlook.

You probably know some of these tricks. Let me remind you the basics and then I will get into what Ryan Deiss taught me at the seminar  Traffic and Conversion Summit.

Basics you probably already know:

  • Your page should have [your  keyword]  in the title of your webpage
  • Your url should contain [your keyword]. i.e.
  • [your keyword] should be in the ad

Ok, now we are moving to the Jedi  level. Here’s what I learnt from Ryan Deiss.

  1. Increase your CTR(Click Thru Rate) to Rank higher and Pay less to Google Adwords.  To do this you need to run an ad for 5 days with the  highest click cost with a budget up to $20.
The  way it works is that people click on your ad when you are #1  and even if you bid $1-$2, you have a limited your budget of $20. Run this for 5 days. After 5 days Google will rank your ads higher on their system. Then, go back to your normal lower budgets.  I know what you are thinking… Am I crazy? Nope. The positioning of your ads should improve.   You earn the highest CTR and your ads will show up higher for a cheaper price on Google Adwords. Try it. It worked for me.
  2. Turn off your traffic between midnight  and 6am. Most of the traffic you get at that time doesn’t buy anything or is fraud. Most click fraud happens between those hours.
  3. Set up negative keyword list on your Google Adwords account. That can save you up to 70% of your bill.  This list should have all of the words that are unwanted in search.
  4. Advertise on Gmail thru  your content network. There’s a huge market of people that read emails and click on your ads.
  5. Use [keyword] in square brackets. You get multiple benefits for using this: high CTR, high quality clicks, better conversions.  Although, you’ll get less clicks, it’s more efficient.

Hopefully you see a gold mine as I did. I have implemented this on one of my sites and I already see a huge improvement!

Good luck!
